How can fix windows camera frame server error Dell 16 pro plus pb16250, that is causing machines to freeze and not being able to make a video call with teams, or use a video function online like YouTube, mictest.com, ect.

I am having a problem with the dell pro 16 plus. When a user is trying to make a video call the device will freeze up. I have tried reimage and different users to make sure that it is the profile that is the issue. The one thing that is always happening is the Windows Camera Frame Server error. This is only happening on this model of the Dell computers that we have. Any thoughts on steps to take would be greatly appreciated.

Quick update from me. I'm seeing some success after disabling the Neural Processing Unit (Intel AI Boost). As soon as I disable it, overall performance feels smoother and I haven't seen any freezing when launching the camera in a Teams call or using Windows Hello yet.

Note that disabling the NPU will also disable the Windows Studio Effects camera drivers, but you'll still have all the standard camera effects in Teams. This shouldn't be an issue in the short term unless you're using apps that rely heavily on the NPU for AI features.

I can confirm I also tried the latest NPU driver direct from Intel to no avail.

It's not the best long-term fix, but it could help in the short term. Can someone else please try disabling the NPU (Intel AI Boost) driver in Device Manager and let me know how you go?

Intel Just came out with this driver https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/794734/870903/intel-npu-driver-windows.html

it may be the solution. After initial tests I can't see any of the issues that are described here in this thread (Testing on a remote connection through Cisco AnyConnect VPN).

I only did some fast prelim testing, so I would recommend we try some more testing across different models of computers as well. I am on a Dell Pro 14 Premium PA14250.

Please,  run the DirectX diagnostics tool.

Go to Windows Start  and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file.

You can attach this diagnostics file to your post on this Forum or you may post the saved file to a File Sharing site (e.g. OneDrive) and provide here a link to this site.
