Hi

We face error "Failed to associate the route with rule sets" whenever we click the associate button for rule set to route. Have tried on 2 separate newly created Front Door CDNs and rule sets.

Not details are given for the error in the message. Any ideas?

The error "Failed to associate the route with rule sets" can occur due to several reasons, including configuration issues or limitations within Azure Front Door. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Check Rule Set Configuration: Ensure that the rule set you are trying to associate is properly configured and saved. If there are any errors in the rule set, it may prevent association.
    2. Route Configuration: Verify that the route you are trying to associate with the rule set is correctly configured. Ensure that all required fields are filled out and that the route is active.
    3. Permissions: Ensure that you have the necessary permissions to associate rule sets with routes in Azure Front Door. Lack of permissions can lead to errors during the association process.
    4. Browser Issues: Sometimes, browser-related issues can cause problems with the Azure portal. Try clearing your browser cache or using a different browser to see if the issue persists.
    5. Azure Service Status: Check the Azure Service Health dashboard for any ongoing issues with Azure Front Door that might be affecting your ability to associate routes and rule sets.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, consider reaching out to Azure support for further assistance, as they may be able to provide more detailed insights into the error message.
