Since yesterday until today, attempts to install Windows 11 KB5072033 (OS build 26200.7462 and 26100.7462) security update have repeatedly failed.

Yesterday, I tried updating again. I first restarted the system, and suddenly a message appeared saying “Update in progress, please keep your computer on”. It ran for 20 minutes. After another restart, shortly afterward, the same message appeared again and ran for 3 minutes. After that, I was able to boot, but on 2025-12-11 at 12:12, for two consecutive days, the KB5072033 (26200.7462) update still could not install successfully.

It still didn’t work. The C: drive now has a $WINDOWS.~BT folder.

Every time I restart the computer, an error occurs. Last checked: yesterday, 2025-12-11, 6:31 PM.

"There were some problems installing updates, but we’ll try again later. If you keep seeing this message and want to search the web or contact support for more information, this may help: (0x80070002)"

As a result, I had to remove this update from the Quality Updates section.螢幕擷取畫面 2025-12-12 230212 螢幕擷取畫面 2025-12-12 140350

Try installing the KB5072033 update using the offline installer available on the Microsoft Catalog, there are 4 versions of the update listed, only install the version that is applicable to your current version of Windows 11.

If the KB5072033 update is still failing, the best option is to open the Settings app, go to System - Recovery, then click the 'Reinstall Now' button in the 'Fix problems with Windows Updates' section and wait for that process to complete, this process will not affect your files, settings or installed updates.
