Dear Microsoft Outlook Product Team,

I would like to request an option to remove or disable the “Delete” icon from Outlook Quick Actions, particularly the hover-over actions in the classic desktop version of Outlook.

In day-to-day usage, the hover-over Delete action increases the risk of accidental email deletion, especially for users handling a high volume of critical emails. Even with caution, unintended deletions can occur due to cursor movement, leading to productivity loss and potential data recovery efforts.

Having a configurable setting or policy option (for example, via Outlook settings or Group Policy) to disable or customize hover-over quick actions—specifically the Delete icon—would greatly enhance usability and reduce operational risk for many users and organizations.

We believe this enhancement would be valuable for enterprise users who prioritize accuracy and data safety over quick-delete functionality.

Thank you for considering this request. We appreciate your continued efforts to improve the Outlook user experience.

Kind regards,

    Hi @Jaydeep Solanki,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts.

I understand that when you check your emails daily, you often hover your mouse over many messages. Sometimes, you might accidentally click the Delete icon and move an email to the Deleted Items folder.

I think your idea is very practical and helpful. Being able to customize the Delete icon could help many others avoid similar issues, thereby improving the overall user experience.

To help your suggestion reach the Outlook Production Team more quickly, here are two options:

    1. You can share your feedback through Microsoft’s official feedback channel: the Feedback Portal. User's image
    2. You can also send your suggestion directly via the Feedback feature in Outlook (classic) by following these steps: File > Feedback > Make a suggestion User's image User's image

Once again, thank you very much for your valuable input. It helps Microsoft better understand customer expectations and experiences, which ultimately leads to better products.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. I’m always happy to support you!
