To troubleshoot sound issues on your new HP notebook running Windows 11, you can follow these steps:

    1. Check Volume Settings: Ensure that the volume is not muted and is turned up. You can do this by clicking on the speaker icon in the taskbar.
    2. Update Audio Drivers: Sometimes, outdated or incompatible audio drivers can cause sound issues. You can check for updates by going to Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates. If there are any driver updates available, install them.
    3. Device Manager: Open Device Manager by right-clicking on the Start button and selecting it. Look for Sound, video and game controllers. Expand this section and check if there are any yellow exclamation marks next to your audio device. If there are, right-click on it and select Update driver.
    4. Run the Audio Troubleshooter: Go to Settings > System > Sound and scroll down to find the Troubleshoot button. Click it to run the audio troubleshooter, which can help identify and fix issues automatically.
    5. Check Playback Devices: Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar, select Sounds, and then go to the Playback tab. Ensure that the correct playback device is set as default. If you see multiple devices, try selecting each one to see if sound works.
    6. Check for Windows Updates: Make sure your Windows 11 is up to date, as updates can fix bugs and compatibility issues.

If you continue to experience issues after trying these steps, it may be necessary to contact HP support for further assistance or check if there are any specific driver updates for your HP model.

Hi, I am an Independent Advisor and welcome to Microsoft Q&A.

    Let me help you.

Please hover your mouse over the sound icon at the lower right-hand corner, then right-click it and click Troubleshoot Sound. Let the troubleshooter finish its task, then this should either resolve the problem or display an error message.

If that doesn't work, we need to remove the Audio driver from the Device Manager and restart the PC to reinstall it.

Here are the steps to completely remove a Device from your computer.

Step 1. Use shortcut keys Windows key + X.

    Step 2. Select Device Manager.

Step 3. Expand the entry Sound, Video, and Game Controllers. Right-click the problematic device, which is either Realtek Audio, or AMD High-definition Audio, or High-Definition Audio, depending on the audio device installed in your PC, and select Uninstall device.

Step 4. You need to check the option Delete the driver software for this device and then click the Uninstall button.

    Step 5. Reboot the computer.

After the reboot, please see if the problem is fixed.

If that still does not work, please visit the support website of your laptop or desktop and then download and install the latest Audio driver, then restart the PC.
