Is anyone else experiencing issues with Edge PDF Formatting bloating file size?

I use edge to add account coding on receipts and other documents that I have saved as PDF's, but as of today I am experiencing an issue where whenever I enter text on a PDF the file size drastically increases. I went from a 1MB file to 54MB file size on a single page pdf. What might be causing this to happen as it wasn't happening yesterday that I recall, but I am now unable to send some of these files on my companies email as they exceed attachment size. I also found that if I go and delete the comments the file size doesn't decrease and if I reenter the codings and comments the file size will increase drastically again. I have one file that I took from 1MB all the way to 179MB while testing my theory. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

It seems you are experiencing a significant increase in PDF file size when using Microsoft Edge to annotate or add text to your documents. This issue may be related to how the built-in PDF reader in Edge handles annotations and text entries, which can sometimes lead to bloated file sizes due to the way data is stored or compressed.

Unfortunately, the context provided does not specify a direct solution to this particular issue of file size increase when adding annotations. However, it is worth noting that some users have reported similar problems with specific versions of Microsoft Edge, particularly when dealing with PDFs that contain certain fonts or features.

You might consider checking for updates to Microsoft Edge, as newer versions may address bugs related to PDF handling. Additionally, if the problem persists, you could explore alternative PDF editing tools that might better manage file sizes when adding annotations.

    Hello Preston,

I understand the frustration of a small PDF becoming large after editing. The recent Edge PDF engine may be embedding text as graphic objects instead of text, thus the file size increases.

To resolve this, you can disable the New PDF Viewer in edge://flags. Or, try Print → Save as PDF after adding notes. If the issue persists, consider using a PDF editor or online tool to compress the file.

Please inform me if this started after an Edge update or if you used the text annotation tool.
