Why is Pull-print printers(Universal Print Anywhere) scaling down files by .25 inches?

We are finding that using Pull-print is scaling down files by .25". We have come to this conclusion since "direct" printing does not scale or alter files. We have turned off all options to scale under "printer share settings". We have tested multiple files and tested printing from multuple programs. Is there a way to stop this scaling from from happening?

    Hey @Graham S !

It sounds like you're running into an issue with Pull-Print resizing your documents by a quarter of an inch. Since you mentioned that direct printing doesn't have this problem and that you've already turned off scaling options in the printer share settings, let's explore a few things that might help.

    1. Default Paper Size: Ensure that the default paper size configured for the Pull Print printer matches the one set in the application you're printing from. Sometimes, if the default size in the Universal Print settings or the printer properties is incorrect, it can lead to resizing. You can adjust this in the printer settings both in the Azure Portal and through any local printer management tools.
    2. Printer Properties Check: If you haven't already, verify the "Paper size default" setting under the Properties page for the Pull-Print printer. This may help define how the printer interprets the job input.
    3. Test from Different Applications: Since you've already tested various files and programs, you might want to specifically check if there's a particular format (like PDF, Word, etc.) that consistently scales down. This could indicate a compatibility issue with those formats.
    4. Operating System Considerations: If your setup involves a mix of Windows versions, particularly if any machines are on Windows 10 versions below 24H2, be aware that older versions may have different default behaviors regarding paper sizes.
    5. Contact Support: If all else fails, consider reaching out to support for assistance. There may be a known issue with the specific version of the Universal Print connector you're using.

I hope one of these tips helps you get your printing back on track! If you need further assistance or if the issue persists, feel free to provide more details such as:

    • What version of Windows are you using on the machines that are printing?
    • What specific file formats are you trying to print?
    • Have any recent updates been applied to the printer software or drivers?

Hi there and thank you for your reply,

    1. Our devices use multiple trays using letter, legal, and tabloid sheets
    2. The default paper size is set to US letter
      1. When we release a job that is letter sized it is still scaled down 0.25 inches
    3. We've tested word, acrobat and illustrator all set to "actual size" or "100% scale" in the print dialogue
    4. Everything is on windows 11
    • We are using windows 11
    • PDF file format is being used
    • Printer software is up to date
    • The devices are using Microsoft IPP Class Driver

    Thank you!
