The inability to drag and drop emails into the ToDo sidebar in the New Outlook may be due to limitations in the drag-and-drop functionality. According to the context, dragging and dropping items across different Outlook clients or instances is not supported. Additionally, the drag-and-drop feature may also depend on the specific APIs being used and the current state of the application.

If you are experiencing a red circle with a line through it, it indicates that the action is not allowed in that context. You might want to check if there are any updates or changes in the settings of your Outlook application that could affect this functionality.

For further assistance, consider checking the supported functionalities and limitations regarding drag-and-drop actions in Outlook.

    Hi @Jack Speshock

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience with us.

I can understand the importance of being able to quickly create tasks from emails. However, by default, the To Do tab in My Day is designed to accept an email message not a whole conversation. This means the behavior that prevents dragging and dropping a conversation into the To Do tab is intentional.

In order to create a task from using your email, please follow these steps:

Go to Mail in new Outlook.

    1. Open the My Day pane by selecting the calendar with check mark icon on the top right.
    2. My Day on the toolbar at the top of the page.
    3. Select the Calendar tab.
    4. Find the message that you want to create a task from in the message list.
    5. Select and drag the message to the To Do tab in the My Day pane.

While we understand how important this functionality is for your workflow. I recommend submitting feedback directly to Microsoft via the Feedback Portal to help prioritize this feature in future updates. User's image
