Major issues with edge syncing. Edge not able to connect to a server envrionment, which until it does, Edge will not load any webpages. It just spins and spins untl the sync service finally connects to a microsoft server. Happening on multiple machine across different networks. The connection for sync can take anywhere from 30 seconds to 30 minutes. Resetting browser, appdata, resync does nothing. Issue still exists once a user tries to sync their profile. What is going on?

    Hi Kyle,

Thanks for reaching out. I understand how frustrating it is when Edge stalls and won’t load pages until sync connects especially across multiple machines and networks. This behavior usually points to a deeper identity or sync initialization problem rather than a simple browser glitch.

First, try signing out of the profile or creating a temporary local profile to confirm if pages load normally without sync. If they do, the issue is tied to the signed-in profile and its authentication path.

Second, check Edge’s internal diagnostics by visiting edge://sync-internals and edge://signin-internals. Look for any authentication or cryptography errors. These often appear after UPN changes or tenant migrations and can block sync until service-side data resets.

Third, review your tenant and policy settings. If you’re on Entra P1/P2 without Microsoft 365 E5, enabling Enterprise State Roaming for affected users can resolve sync stalls. Also, verify that no policy like SyncDisabled is applied unintentionally. If errors persist, resetting sync from Edge settings or via the Microsoft reset link can clear corrupted keys.

Last, if users need immediate access while you troubleshoot, temporarily disable sync through policy so browsing works without delays. Meanwhile, keep Edge updated to the latest stable build and flush DNS and socket pools (edge://net-internals) to clear stale network states.

I hope you find this information helpful. Please let me know if you have any further questions If the answer is helpful, please click "Accept Answer".
