To deregister a device from Windows Autopilot, follow these steps:
- Delete from Intune: Before deregistering from Windows Autopilot, you need to delete the device from Intune. To do this:
- Sign into the Microsoft Intune admin center.
- Navigate to Devices > Windows.
- Find the device you want to delete and select it.
- Click Delete and confirm the deletion.
- Deregister from Windows Autopilot: Once the device is deleted from Intune, you can proceed to deregister it:
- Sign into the Microsoft Intune admin center again.
- Navigate to Devices > Windows > Enrollment > Devices under Windows Autopilot.
- Find the device and select it.
- Click on Delete device to deregister it from Windows Autopilot.
- Confirmation: After deletion, you may need to refresh the screen to ensure the device is no longer listed.
For Microsoft Entra join devices, no additional steps are necessary after deleting from Intune, as the device will be automatically removed from Microsoft Entra ID. For hybrid join devices, ensure to delete the computer object from the on-premises Active Directory as well.
It's important to follow these steps to avoid orphaned devices in the Windows Autopilot database, Intune, or Microsoft Entra ID.
