If you are having trouble syncing your OneNote notebooks after cleaning them up, there are several potential issues and solutions you can explore:

    1. Check Sync Status: In OneNote, go to View > Sync Status to see if there are any specific error messages. This can help identify the exact problem with syncing.
    2. Internet Connection: Ensure that your device is connected to the internet. A stable connection is necessary for syncing notebooks with OneDrive or SharePoint.
    3. Account Authentication: Make sure you are signed in to your OneNote account. If you are not authenticated, syncing will not work.
    4. Notebook Location: If your notebook is stored in an offline location (like a folder with Windows Offline Files enabled), it may not sync correctly. To resolve this, consider moving your notebook to a location that does not use offline folders. You can do this by:
      • Pressing Shift + F9 to sync the notebook first.
      • Then going to File > Share > Copy this notebook to OneDrive or SharePoint or right-clicking the notebook, selecting Properties, and then Change Location.
    5. Forced Sync: You can try to force a sync by selecting an unsynchronized page in your notebook to give it focus, then attempt to sync again.
    6. Check for Large Sections: OneNote has a limit for the size of sections. If any section exceeds 50 MB, it can cause syncing issues. Check the size of your sections and consider splitting larger sections into smaller ones if necessary.
    7. Restart OneNote: Sometimes, simply restarting the OneNote application can resolve syncing issues.
    8. Registry Changes: If you encounter specific error codes like 0x800700DF, it may be related to file size limits. You can adjust these limits in the Windows Registry, but be cautious and back up the registry before making changes. For example, you can change the FileSizeLimitInBytes value to allow larger files.

If you continue to experience issues after trying these steps, you may want to look into specific error codes or messages that appear during the sync process for more targeted troubleshooting.
