Multiple animations over a video slide

I created a video and inserted it into PP. There are 2 instances, during the video, where I want an image of Santa to Fly In and Fly Out from the right. I got the 1st one to work but cannot get the 2nd one (over an image of a dog and cat) to work which should Fly In 35 seconds after the 1st and is to remain on the screen for 17 seconds before Flying Out to the right. I’ve tried it numerous ways…1 santa, 2 santas, Start after, Start with, etc. I've attached a link to the slide. Any suggestions.

BTW… This slide is to coincide with the song, “Holiday Tango.”

    Hi Linda,

Why don't you use triggers on the video that are connected to bookmarks. That way you can make the Santa appear and disappear anywhere you like.

Here's a sample that I made using your presentation. I put the bookmarks on random spots just to test. You can add the bookmarks and triggers in the playback tab.

If you view it on PPT online it won't work, bookmarks are not supported. Download and open the file on PPT for the desktop.

To achieve multiple animations over a video slide in PowerPoint, you need to ensure that the timing and triggers for each animation are set correctly. Here are some steps you can follow to set up your animations:

    1. Select the Image of Santa: Click on the image of Santa that you want to animate.
    2. Add Animation: Go to the "Animations" tab and select the "Fly In" animation from the animation gallery.
    3. Set Timing for the First Animation: In the Animation Pane, right-click on the first animation and select "Timing...". Set it to start "With Previous" or "After Previous" based on your requirement. Adjust the duration as needed.
    4. Add the Second Animation: For the second instance of Santa, select the image again and add another "Fly In" animation.
    5. Set Timing for the Second Animation: Right-click on the second animation in the Animation Pane, select "Timing..." and set it to start "After Previous". You can specify a delay of 35 seconds after the first animation. Adjust the duration to ensure it remains on screen for 17 seconds before it flies out.
    6. Add Fly Out Animation: After setting the Fly In animation, add a "Fly Out" animation for the second instance of Santa. Set this to start "After Previous" and adjust the timing accordingly.
    7. Preview the Slide: Use the "Preview" button in the Animations tab to check if the animations are working as expected.

If you are still having trouble, ensure that the timings do not overlap incorrectly and that each animation is set to the correct start condition. You may also want to check the order of animations in the Animation Pane to ensure they are sequenced correctly.

    Hi,

Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft community and for sharing the details. Let me walk you through how you can set this up in PowerPoint.

Start by placing your video on the slide and adding the Santa image where you want it to appear. Apply the Fly In animation from the right, then add the Fly Out animation to make it exit to the right. Do this for both instances, either by duplicating the same Santa image or using two separate ones.

Next, open the Animation Pane so you can manage the timing. For the first Santa, set Fly In to start with or after the previous animation, and add a delay that matches the point in the video when you want it to appear. For example, if it should show up at 10 seconds, set the delay to 10 seconds. Then, for Fly Out, add a delay that equals the Fly In delay plus the time you want it to stay on screen.

Repeat the same process for the second Santa, but adjust the delays. Its Fly In should happen 35 seconds after the first Santa leaves, and Fly Out should occur 17 seconds later.

Finally, make sure the video is set to play automatically and full screen, and that all animations start after the previous one so they follow the video timeline. Use the Preview option in the Animation Pane to check everything.

If the animations overlap or don’t appear as expected, it’s usually because the start options or delays weren’t set correctly.

Let me know if this helps or if you need more clarification, I’m happy to help!

    Warm regards,

    Edward
