After 3 attempts trying to upgrade to windows 11 (from 10) get error message: 0x8007001f every time. I meet minimum requirements and have all updates. Is this an issue with Microsoft or on my end?

The error code 0x8007001f during the upgrade to Windows 11 typically indicates a problem with device drivers or hardware compatibility. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue:

    1. Check Device Drivers: Ensure that all your device drivers are up to date. You can do this by visiting the manufacturer's website or using Windows Update to check for driver updates.
    2. Disconnect Peripheral Devices: Sometimes, external devices (like printers, USB devices, etc.) can cause conflicts. Disconnect all non-essential devices and try the upgrade again.
    3. Run Windows Update Troubleshooter: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters and run the Windows Update troubleshooter to identify and fix any issues.
    4. Free Up Disk Space: Ensure you have enough free space on your hard drive for the upgrade. It's recommended to have at least 20 GB of free space.
    5. Check for Windows Updates: Make sure your current Windows 10 installation is fully updated before attempting the upgrade again.
    6. Use the Installation Assistant: If the upgrade through Windows Update fails, consider using the Windows 11 Installation Assistant from Microsoft’s website to perform the upgrade manually.

If you've tried these steps and still encounter the error, it may be worth checking Microsoft's support resources or forums for any specific issues related to your hardware or configuration.

    Hello,

Thank you for sharing the details of your upgrade issue. I understand how frustrating it can be to encounter error 0x8007001f repeatedly, especially after confirming your device meets all requirements. You’ve already taken important steps and that shows you’re on the right track.

This error often occurs due to corrupted system components or conflicts during the migration phase of the upgrade. One effective approach is to perform a clean boot before retrying the upgrade. A clean boot starts Windows with only essential services and drivers, reducing the chance of third-party software interfering with the process. To do this open System Configuration by typing msconfig in the search bar, go to the Services tab, check “Hide all Microsoft services,” then click “Disable all.” Next go to the Startup tab and open Task Manager to disable all startup items. Restart your PC and attempt the upgrade again.

If the issue persists another advanced option is to create a new local administrator account and run the upgrade from that profile. Sometimes user profile corruption can block the migration process. After creating the new account sign in and retry the upgrade using the Windows 11 Installation Assistant or ISO file from the official Microsoft site.

Have you tried performing a clean boot or using a different user profile for the upgrade?

I hope this answer is helpful if you have further questions feel free to reply back

    Regards,

    Marcelo

Your recommendation didn't work. Even using the Windows 11 Installation Assistant!! It downloads the upgrade, but when I go to restart it gets to 50%-60% then stops and UNINSTALLS the upgrade. NO ERROR CODES. Leaves me in the dark.
