Hi WENDY MEYERS,
The recent Windows 11 24H2 update introduced several changes to the print subsystem, and some Brother printer drivers may fail to load correctly after the upgrade. The good news is that this usually comes down to a driver mismatch rather than a hardware problem.
I recommend starting by removing the existing printer driver completely from Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners, then opening Print Management to delete any remaining Brother driver packages. After that, download and install the latest Windows 11-compatible driver or “Full Driver & Software Package” directly from Brother’s support page, as Windows Update may not pull the correct version automatically. If your model supports it, switching temporarily to the Brother IPP Class Driver can help confirm whether the issue is driver-related.
Once the new driver is installed, restart the PC and printer, then test the connection again. If the printer is network-based, you may also want to re-add it using its IP address instead of automatic discovery, just to rule out communication issues introduced after the update. If the issue continues, feel free to share the exact model number and any error messages and I’ll be happy to dive deeper.
If this guidance helps resolve the issue, please remember to click “Accept Answer” so others can benefit from it too 😊.
Jason.
