Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Q&A Forum!
I've reviewed your past interactions on the forum, it's a good suggestion but they’re describing a workflow that Clipchamp simply doesn’t support right now. If you need Spanish captions, you’ll have to move the video to a tool that allows caption import.
I can see how helpful it can be being able to import subtitles directly into Clipchamp, kindly leave a feedback for the Clipchamp team would be a great way to influence future updates.
Here's how you can leave a feedback:
- Open Clipchamp and sign in.
- Click on your profile icon (top-right corner).
- Select Help & Feedback.
- Choose Give Feedback.
- Describe your idea in details.
- Click Submit.
You can continue with the following workarounds:
- Export English transcript from Clipchamp
- Use Clipchamp’s auto-caption feature to generate English captions.
- Download the transcript (usually as text).
- Convert to SRT and Translate
- Use a free tool like *Subtitle Edit (Windows) or *Aegisub (cross-platform):
- Paste the English transcript.
- Add timestamps (or import the Clipchamp timing if available).
- Save as
.srt. - Translate the captions
- Add Spanish captions using a platform that supports uploads
- *YouTube (free)
- Upload your video.
- Go to Subtitles → Upload your Spanish
.srtfile. - You can keep the video private if you don’t want it public.
- *Kapwing or *VEED
- Upload your video and
.srtfile. - Export with captions burned in or as a separate track.
Note: The tools mentioned (Youtube, Kapwing, VEED, Subtitle Edit, Aegisub) are third-party solutions, not Microsoft products. They are suggested only because they can help in this specific scenario. Please use them at your discretion and review their privacy and security policies before uploading any content.
