Excel android says it has saved, but doesn't save changes

Microsoft in its inimitable overbearing bloatological style does it again. Everything looks so glossy and functional but another key function does not work.

Namely, the save function on Excel android. It acts as if it has saved changes but when I visit the same file on computer, or on the cloud of onedrive, the changes have not been saved.

I've done it saving to a drive on the computer and onto onedrive, with autosave on.

I'm logged into my account.

Any idea what the issue is, it's so tiring?
