Where to find Options or disable scientific notation on iPad

I'm in the field taking serial numbers and the base version of the file on the laptop has Automatic Data Conversion off, but that didn't translate to the iPad. I need to be able to write long serial numbers without Excel throwing away all my work by changing it to scientific notation.

    Dear @Ethan Crane

    Welcome to the Q&A Community.

Thank you for sharing your concerns. I understand how important this feature is to you. Unfortunately, Excel for iPad does not currently support disabling Automatic Data Conversion directly like the desktop version. I understand how important this feature is to your workflow. However, there is a workaround that may help you avoid scientific notation when entering serial numbers.

    • Before entering your data, please format the relevant cells as Text. You can do this by opening your workbook.
    • Selecting the cells or column where you'll input the serial numbers.
    • Tapping the “A” icon in the toolbar to open the formatting pane. User's image
    • Then choose Text under Cell Format.

This ensures Excel treats the input as text and preserves the full number exactly as typed.

If you've already entered the data and it's been converted, you can reformat the cells to Text and re-enter the numbers.

    • Alternatively, prefixing the number with an apostrophe (e.g., '1234567890123) will also force Excel to treat it as text.

I hope this approach helps reduce any disruption and makes your experience smoother. I sincerely apologize that the specific feature you're looking for isn't currently available. At Microsoft, we deeply value user feedback and continuously work to improve our products based on your input.
